Stem 9 - 12 cm. l., 8 - 13 mm. thick, curved, base oblong, very obtuse, tumid, white, flaccid, else mottled orange-yellow on yellowish ground, more or less compressed, with viscid pellicle at first apparently, somewhat inuato-sericeous, ring superior, broad, but distant, glabrous and deciduous, membranous, thin, torn, above which finely striate, minutely farinaceous above, smooth below, even all over, subcastilaginous, interior white, stuffed with cuttony pith, then fistulose, not fibrillose, cuticle distinct, very thin, marked off the sporophore, juicy. Pileus at first broadly campanulate, obtuse, then plane, at first equal ? Unequal in diam., up to 6 X 7 cm. diam., bright tawny-orange red, viscid, becoming more light and yellowish like pumpkin, disc remaining tawny-orange-red, and slightly but definitely elevated, adpressed with obscarely radially fibrilloso-squamulose remnants of once viscid pellicle, nearly smooth and glabrous beside the disc even, the marginal 1/3rd past closely striate, the striae alternating forked and unforked at extremity, extremity toothed, fleshy, firm, cuticle distinct, thin, almost homogeneous with that of the stem, but more spongy thin, abruptly membranous for the frontal 1/3rd distance.
